The Canadian Rugby Foundation owes its existence and growth to the rugby clubs, groups, and individuals (Fund Sponsors) who initiated and continue to support our over sixty funds, be they standard club endowment funds, student award funds, capital project funds, or Rugby Canada Senior and Age-Grade Team Funds. Along with donors to the Foundation and individual funds, they are true collaborators in the sense we all have common goals – growing, developing, and promoting rugby and the people involved in the game of rugby union anywhere in Canada – and we try to achieve those goals through the judicious use of monies accumulated within a Foundation fund towards rugby club operating expenses, student awards, and performance-related awards, expenditures for major capital projects such as new fields, facilities, and clubhouse construction and renovations.
Each of these funds or dedicated restricted funds has been set up with specific goals as outlined in the Fund’s Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Foundation. They are restricted and dedicated in the sense that the monies accumulated are dedicated to, and restricted in use according to the MOA.
In addition to these funds, the Foundation has a General or Unrestricted Fund which it uses to help sponsor and support projects, events, and rugby tournaments of national scope, and to maintain the operations of the Foundation.
