While these are endowment funds with significant assets invested in perpetuity for the long-term health of these national teams and programs, disbursements are more flexible than with our standard endowment funds and are based on needs identified by Rugby Canada and its individual teams that cannot be met through traditional revenue sources such as World Rugby and government support. While investment returns account for much of these funds’ revenue, each of these funds started with one or more major donor contributions to get kick-started, and now depend on annual donation campaigns or fund-raising events to build up the Funds to enable contributions to Rugby Canada.

Each fund is directed by its Fund Representatives and in some cases Trustees who organize donor campaigns and fund-raising events, communicate with key contributors, encourage major gifts and bequests, work with the Foundation to ensure investments are managed properly, and review and respond to requests made by Rugby Canada for disbursements of funds as required. These Fund Representatives report regularly to the Foundation on their revenue activities and the progress of the teams and programs they support, and in turn receive Fund Reports on new donations and disbursements, and Fund balances quarterly or more frequently as requested.
