Dear Canadian Rugby Foundation,
Firstly, I would like to give my sincere gratitude; I feel very fortunate to be a recipient of the George F. Jones Scholarship award. My rugby career started in Grade 10 of high school when I saw my friends having such a fun time playing and being part of a team. It was one of the best decisions I ever made in high school, as it really helped me see what it takes to work really hard at something for the gain of a team. Ever since I have thoroughly enjoyed playing rugby and am passionate about the sport – currently I’m playing with the Ottawa Indians Rugby Football Club. In the latest season, I played as a winger and sometime a full back.
Other than rugby, I am also very interested in snowboarding and hiking. I consider myself a very active and outdoorsy person, and hope to travel the world when I graduate to learn and experience how other cultures and countries live. I am also very interested in music, currently I’m learning how to play the guitar. Other than that, I’m focused on school and spending time with friends and family.
My future career goals consist of going into real estate development within a municipality. I was fortunate enough to have great co-op experiences so that I was able to target what I was most enthusiastic about in terms of a career – and think I found something that I would truly enjoy doing every day. I’m currently in my last year at the University of Guelph in a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a major in Real Estate and Housing, so it has been very advantageous to me to find a job that pertains to my degree as well.
Thank you again so much.
Sincerely,
Emma Watson
