Lauren Kerr – George Jones Scholarship 2014

Congratulations to Lauren Kerr selected as one of the winners of the 2014 George Jones Scholarship.

Lauren was a member of Canada’s Silver medal winning 7s team at the Nanjing Youth Olympics this past summer.

She was selected as the Athlete of the Week by City TV in February 2014.

Birthplace: Surrey, BC
Favourite memory growing up: I don’t really have a specific memory! Just being with my family.
Position played:  Switch between halfback and flyhalf.
First year playing rugby: 2010
Favourite coach: John Tait
Most influential person in life: Too many people to count.
Favourite rugby memory: Scoring my one and only try in the Youth Olympic Games against Tunisia.
Worst rugby memory: Doing testing for Team Canada, in front of national team players, and tripping and falling on my face in triple broad jump. Too funny.
Favourite movie: It’s a toss up between Thor and Transformers!
Favourite musician: Can’t say I have just one favourite.
Favourite book: Dreamland by Sarah Dessen
Career plans: Playing rugby would be the best, however my backup is to become a psychologist.
Rugby goals in next 2 years: Getting carded would be an amazing achievement, but going to the 2016 Olympics would be incredible.
Favourite other hobbies: Reading.
