Abbotsford Rugby Club Hold Successful Tournament on Saturday in Memory of John Cannon

Thank you to everyone who made it out to the John Cannon Memorial Touch Tournament this past Saturday. It was a very successful event made possible by all of you attending, throwing the egg around, having fun and raising funds for an excellent cause!
The tournament saw all ages, all skill sets, and we were fortunate enough to see current and former national team members take the field. A special thank you goes to the players that travelled from all parts of the lower mainland to get to Abbotsford for the day. A huge thanks goes to the Castaway Wanderers who sent over two full teams for the day. What an amazing gesture that was! Finally, the tournament saw MD INC take the tournament with a win over last year’s champions, Hot Fuzz.
Thank you to the DiGuistini family for joining us and allowing our club to share the generous donations Todd’s family, friends and clients made after his passing. Todd was a President at the ARFC and founding member of the “Originals.” The ARFC received $7,550 and we’re happy to pass this along to the John Cannon Memorial Fund. The fund supports Abbotsford rugby players in pursuit of the highest levels of rugby in Canada; helping offset the financial burden on athletes and their family.
The first recipient of the fund is Tausani Levale, a very worthy recipient of the first bursary from the fund. She’s currently chasing her dreams playing the highest level of rugby and representing our club on the world stage! Well done, Tausani and good luck for the upcoming year.
Once again, a sincere thanks goes out to all the volunteers, players, and anyone who donated to this great cause. We look forward to seeing everyone next year!
