Rugby Reaching Out For Bobsleigh Canada Pre Olympic Training

The Canadian Rugby Foundation together with the Hong Kong/Olympic 7’s Fund is reaching out to its supporters to assist Bobsleigh Canada get its athletes including Rugby Canada 7’s player, Heather Moyse to Pre Olympic training in Sochi, Russia, the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

After the Vancouver Winter Olympics, many National winter sports budgets were cut dramatically. This saw the cutting of the Canada II women’s bobsleigh from participating in Pre Olympic training at the Sochi Bobsleigh track for this October.

If Canada wants to repeat its gold and silver medal performance of the Vancouver Olympics it is essential that we get the Canada II bobsleigh over to Sochi for Pre Olympic training. The cost of this trip is around $30,000 as the sleds cost an exorbitant amount to ship. The Canada II driver, Jenny Ciochetti has a connection with the Nor’Westers Rugby Club in Edmonton where her uncle is heavily involved with club. He even coaxed her to try out the game.

The Canadian Rugby Foundation and the Hong Kong/Olympic 7’s Fund are aiming to get $10,000 to assist in getting that Canada II bobsleigh over to the Pre Olympic Training. To date we have already raised $6,200, leaving us with only $3,800 to raise. Would you consider help Bobsleigh Canada return to the podium with a charitable donation through the Canadian Rugby Foundation.

The Canadian Rugby Foundation and Hong Kong Rugby 7’s Fund will have their logos displayed on the Canada II bobsleigh for the World Cup Bobsleigh Season promoting our sport to the bobsleigh world.

This 2014 Winter Olympics is the last Olympics before the Summer 2016 Olympics where Rugby 7’s will be introduced for the first time. This is about sports helping other sports.

Help us give Bobsleigh Canada push!!
