Balmy Beach Club – Alumni Capping Ceremony

DSC_0911On August 19th the Balmy Beach Club, with cooperation from Rugby Canada and the Canadian Rugby Foundation hosted a Tribute to BBCC Canadian Representative Players.  The event was held at the historic and picturesque Balmy Beach Club steeped in Rugby history.  The thrust of the evening centered on the capping ceremony for those BBCC players who had not yet received their CRF caps.  With the backdrop of a wall of framed jerseys showcasing the tradition of BBCC players representing Canada at all levels; Scott Bryan, Scott Hendry, Matt King, Anthony McGann, Boris Stoikos and Jeff Tomlinson received their CRF caps surrounded by their families, friends and teammates.

The evening was a smashing success with several other BBCC players with representative honours attending (John Ackery, Kyle Nichols Adam Marshall, Glenn Miller, Scotty Dunham, Simon Rogers). Eleven of the original Balmy Beach team were also in attendance to mark the occasion. Special guests included Al Charron, Dave Lougheed, Graham Brown and Matthuw Ronald-Jones.
In addition the event was the launch of the “Balmy Beach Provincial/Canadian Players Fund” a fund put in place through the CRF to assist BBCC players in their representative pursuits to ensure that the tradition continues.
The BBCC wishes to thank RC and the CRF for their support of the event as well as Michelle Quance Photography for documenting the evening.
