2011 Courtenay Taaffe Memorial Scholarship Winner

The Canadian Rugby Foundation and the Taaffe family are pleased to announce Lauren Nutt as this year’s recipient. Lauren is from Victoria, BC and was coached by Courtenay while at Stelly’s High School where she learned firsthand how passionate Courtney was for rugby and the community. Lauren now lives to those standards in memory of Courtenay.

The Courtenay Taaffe Memorial Scholarship is awarded in honor of Courtenay’s passion for rugby and life achievements on Vancouver Island. It is awarded annually to a female rugby athlete/coach/referee that is pursuing a full time degree, diploma or certificate program at a university or college on Vancouver Island.

Lauren just graduated with honors from the University of British Columbia while playing for the UBC women’s varsity rugby team. Lauren is currently enrolled in Camosun College to pursue a degree in Sports Management and will be playing for the Velox Valhallian’s Women’s team. Lauren is looking forward to combining her love of sports and business.

We wish Lauren all the best in her future endeavors.
