The Toronto Scottish Rugby Football Club has a proud and rich tradition. Established in 1953, the TSRFC currently fields 3 senior men’s teams, 2 senior women’s teams, junior rugby and minis. Toronto Scottish Rugby Football Club (TSRFC) is a non-share capital corporation incorporated under the Corporations Act (Ontario). TSRFC is a not-for-profit organization within the meaning of paragraph 149(1)(l) of the Income Tax Act (Canada).
The Letters Patent of the TSRFC dated October 9, 1970, state the objects of TSRFC in part as follows:
(a) “To encourage and further the game of rugby in Canada in accordance with the rules of the International Rugby Board as constituted in the United Kingdom;
(b) To establish, maintain and conduct an athletic club and to promote among the members of the Corporation and others an interest in athletic games, recreation and sports;
(c) To provide a clubhouse, a playing field and other convenience for the members of the Corporation and others and to equip, furnish and maintain the game; and
(d) To promote all games and sports and to arrange matches and competitions of every nature and to offer or grant and contribute towards prizes, awards and distinctions.”
The Foundation and FFL have entered into a donation agreement (the “FFL Agreement”), effective June 1st 2021.
Under the Fletcher’s Fields Limited Agreement, a fund (the “Toronto Scottish FFL Fund”) was established in the amount of $1,300,000
The Toronto Scottish FFL Fund is intended to provide funding from its endowment, and from capital withdrawals that continue the objects of FFL. These include:
(a) To encourage and further the game of rugby in Ontario and Canada in accordance with the rules of World Rugby (WR);
(b) To maintain and conduct the Toronto Scottish Rugby Football Club (the “Club”) and to promote amongst the members of the Club and others, an interest in the game of rugby;
(c) To establish, maintain and operate facilities (including a clubhouse, playing fields and other conveniences) for the members of the Club and others and to equip, furnish and maintain the game of rugby;
(d) To promote all forms of rugby recognized by WR and to arrange matches and rugby competitions and to offer or grant and contribute towards prizes, awards, scholarships and honorariums related to playing rugby in the province of Ontario.
