We are pleased to announce the winner of the 2025 Judy Seddon Memorial Award, honoring the
\nenduring legacy of Alberta\u2019s beloved \u201cRugby Mom.\u201d This year\u2019s award goes to Rebecca Kochuk, a
\nremarkable individual whose dedication to sport, education, and community embodies Judy\u2019s
\ncommitment to the sport of rugby and community service.<\/p>\n

A passionate athlete and mentor, this year\u2019s honoree began her rugby journey in grade 8\u2014a
\ntransformative experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to the game. Today, she channels that
\npassion into coaching the girls\u2019 team at Bert Church High School in Airdrie, instilling confidence and self-
\nworth in young athletes and continuing Judy\u2019s tradition of nurturing future generations.<\/p>\n

As a player, she competes with distinction for the Canucks RFC, the University of Calgary Dinos, and the
\nSenior Women\u2019s Maverick\/Wolf Pack. Her leadership on and off the field reflects the values Judy
\nchampioned throughout her 35+ years of contributions to rugby in Alberta.<\/p>\n

Academically, Rebecca maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA at the University of Calgary, where she is accelerating her
\nBachelor\u2019s degree with year-round coursework. She aspires to become a Speech-Language Pathologist,
\nhelping children build confidence in communication\u2014an extension of the empowerment she fosters
\nthrough rugby.<\/p>\n

The Judy Seddon Memorial Award will support her continued academic and athletic pursuits, enabling
\nher to further Judy\u2019s legacy through community building for women\u2019s rugby in Alberta.<\/p>\n
