{"id":1518,"date":"2016-09-22T15:00:44","date_gmt":"2016-09-22T22:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canadianrugbyfoundation.ca\/rugby\/?p=1518"},"modified":"2017-02-17T20:26:56","modified_gmt":"2017-02-18T04:26:56","slug":"2016-chairmans-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianrugbyfoundation.ca\/index.php\/2016-chairmans-report\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 Chairman&#8217;s Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.71429; font-size: 1rem;\">Dear Foundation Members,<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I am writing to provide a brief report on the 12th year of the Canadian Rugby Foundation\u00a0ending Dec 31, 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We had a record year in donations with over 700k in donations. Our assets closed out the\u00a0year at almost 3 million and but for a poor year on the markets we would have exceeded this mark. Our\u00a0expenses remained low at a total of $28,597 and we should now be comfortably delivering over 100k a year in\u00a0grants without any impact on capital. Because of the growth in our funds we decided to look for an\u00a0institutional investment firm. After a diligent process of solicitations of interest and interviews by our\u00a0investment committee of Jim Kellett chair, John Woodward and Bill Webb, the firm of Leith Wheeler was\u00a0selected and the process of transfer of our entire portfolio will have been completed at the time of\u00a0distribution of this report. The investment committee also recommended, and has implemented some\u00a0changes to our investment policy to permit a greater degree of flexibility with respect to investment choices in\u00a0accordance with the policies of our new fund managers. I would like to thank Bruce McFarlane and Sarah\u00a0Dunbar of Odlum Brown for their years of service.
