She studies at UVic and plays club rugby for Cowichan. She represented the Vancouver Island Tide in 2015.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Birthplace: Edmonton, AB<br \/>\nFavourite memory growing up: Road trips with my family<br \/>\nPosition played: Hooker, Back row<br \/>\nFirst year playing rugby: Grade 10, 2008<br \/>\nFavourite coach: Brad and Alanna Skene<br \/>\nMost influential person in life: My mom and sisters<br \/>\nFavourite rugby memory: Returning to play for Cowichan after injury took me out of play for a year<br \/>\nWorst rugby memory: Tearing my MCL in the Island Finals in high school<br \/>\nFavourite movie: Honestly -&gt; The Sound of Music<br \/>\nFavourite musician: Can&#8217;t name one, but classic rock\/country (CCR, Johnny Cash, etc)<br \/>\nFavourite book: Harry Potter series<br \/>\nCareer plans: I graduate as a Mechanical Engineer in August, I&#8217;ve primarily worked so far as a reliability engineer in coal and diamond mines.<br \/>\nRugby goals in next 2 years: To help my club team (Cowichan Piggies) advance further in the premier league.<br \/>\nFavourite other hobbies: Hiking, music, travelling, motorcycles<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rebecca is the 2016 winner of the Howard and Marina Gerwing Scholarship.
