Toronto Saracens Rugby Football Club<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Toronto Saracens RFC was established during the early 1950\u2032s. It was formed from the sum of players branching out from the Toronto Irish, Nomads and Barbarians. All of those clubs had an overabundance of players at that time. Back then, the rugby games were played at High Park. After their games, the team would visit the various local pubs in and around the area. It was there, in one of those establishments (not too sure which one), that the Toronto Saracens Rugby Football Club was conceived. The Toronto Saracens was initially formed in 1953, but formally established in 1954. Since then, the Saracens have won the Carling Cup twice (1959 and 1977), the Pony Bowl (1982) and the Old Vienna Cup (Marshall Trophy) (1983).<\/p>\n

We are one of the original investors in the \u201cHome of Ontario Rugby\u201d Fletcher’s Fields, which was our home field until 2024, following its sale. We are currently planning for a new rugby facility (more details to come).<\/p>\n

Toronto Saracens Alumni Fund<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

FUND PURPOSE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Toronto Saracens Legacy Fund was established in April 2025, and was driven by a group of Saracen alumni.\u00a0The Saracens have a long proud history since their founding in the early 1950\u2019s. With over 70 years of playing rugby, there are now over one thousand Saracen Alumni spread around the world.<\/p>\n

Many Saracens Alumni continue to stay involved with the Club in Board positions and as spectators. The cheering of Alumni on the sidelines and the volunteer Alumni working behind the scenes keep the Saracens strong as a Club.<\/p>\n

The Toronto Saracens Alumni Fund is intended to provide funding from its endowment, and from capital withdrawals that continue the objects of the Toronto Saracens Rugby Football Club. These include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To encourage and further the game of rugby in Ontario and Canada;<\/li>\n
  2. To actively support rugby players in the Province of Ontario by furnishing equipment, kit, and facilities for the game of rugby;<\/li>\n
  3. To promote all forms of rugby and to arrange matches and rugby competitions and to offer or grant and contribute towards prizes, awards, scholarships and honorariums related to playing rugby in the province of Ontario.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The following are examples<\/u> of the kinds of projects or uses for which a grant may be approved.<\/p>\n

    1. CLUB OPERATING EXPENSES including any of the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Facilities<\/li>\n
    • Labour expense<\/li>\n
    • Member services<\/li>\n
    • Administration<\/li>\n
    • Competitions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \u00a02. <\/strong>JUNIOR PROGRAM EXPENSES. These may include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Camp fees for junior members to attend Ontario or National camps and competitions<\/li>\n
      • Recruitment of junior members<\/li>\n
      • Junior team coaches’ compensation<\/li>\n
      • Junior team member services including kit and equipment<\/li>\n
      • Other Junior expenses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
