The Canadian Rugby Foundation is pleased to open the 2013 scholarship application process for a number of scholarships for the 2013-14 academic year.
The Thomas Family Scholarship was established in 2008 as a way of thanking the Thomas family for their extreme generosity to the Foundation and all of the various rugby projects they have supported over the years. The Foundation presents the Thomas Family Scholarship annually to a Canadian student playing the great game of rugby.
Also included is the George F. Jones Scholarship. George F. Jones, Q.C, is truly a passionate and dedicated rugby volunteer, and encapsulates the visions of the Canadian Rugby Foundation: providing for the development of rugby and rugby players; helping those who may not have a chance for success without help; growth of rugby at all levels and aiding in the growth of the game at the grass-roots level from Coast to Coast.
The Courtenay Taaffe Memorial Scholarship is also now accepting applications. Courtenay was vibrant, determined, talented and dedicated; she had endless energy and enthusiasm for her passions in life, one of which was the sport of rugby. This scholarship was created in 2005 to honour Courtenay’s rugby passion and life achievements. The successful recipient will share some of the many qualities Courtenay did including a strong work ethic, both in the classroom and on the field, as well as an enthusiastic and determined personality.
All scholarship applications are due by Friday, August 16th at 4pm PST.

The Canadian Rugby Foundation is pleased to announce a partnership with the Dick Ellis Memorial Fund (DEMF) which was established in 1978 as an ongoing memorial to Mr. Ellis who passed away in 1974 while he was president of the Canadian Rugby Union (now Rugby Canada). Since its inception the trustees of this fund have been distributing financial awards ranging in degree for worthwhile rugby initiatives across Canada. The purpose of the DEMF is to provide financial support to the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s National Team programs in support of their World Cup preparation.
